Jesus, Dana White hates Alistair Overeem. He’s reamed The Reem multiple times over the years, and now White is really hitting his stride in the Insulting Overeem department. Most recently, he continued his diatribe by suggesting that Overeem is faking his rib injury. “I have a feeling this rib injury is going to last as long as it takes for dos Santos to get another opponent. That’s what I’m willing to bet.”
Overeem should be used to getting verbally abused by his boss though. That’s because it’s been going on for a while now.
At UFC 169, Overeem thoroughly dominated former UFC world champion Frank Mir. To say he trounced Mir would be a drastic understatement. But when it came time to discuss the fight, White called out Overeem, not Mir, for his “crappy” performance.
Next, White verbally berated Overeem for calling out Brock Lesnar. White inexplicably said something like Lesnar’s in the WWE you idiot! But wait. Dana, you’re the one who kept telling EVERYONE (and I mean EVERYFUCKINGONE) that Brock might come back, I’m talking to Brock, Brock has unfinished business, blah blah blah. And you’re ripping Overeem for jumping on that bandwagon? Please.
And now this. Look, I’m no fan of Overeem. I think he’s an arrogant tool. My two favorite knockouts of 2013 were the times when Travis Browne and Bigfoot Silva almost knocked his tiny pea-size head right off his neck. But oddly, I think Dana hates this guy more than anyone.
And that’s strange because Overeem can make this company money. He’s one of the very few heavyweights that has a distinct, built in fan following, the ability to beat anyone in the division, and who hasn’t already fought—and lost—to Cain Velasquez. Christ Dana, lay off this animal. It’s unprofessional.
