The UFC is back in Chicago and Dana White wouldn’t even think of going in the Windy City without chatting with Ray Flores of ESPN Chicago. An interesting topic of discussion was the “weird” behavior of #1 lightweight contender, and main eventer, Josh Thomson.
White appeared baffled by Thomson openly and repeatedly discussing how bad his camp was. “The fact that he would come out and say that is completely weird and makes no sense,” White told Flores.
He also gave us some inside information from the staredown earlier in the day. “What’s even weirder, is when they squared off today up there, and he got in Ben’s face, he said to Ben, ‘how was your camp?’ (Henderson) said ‘it was awesome.’ (Thomson) goes, ‘I wish I could say that.’ And then he faced forward.”
Flores followed up with the obvious question, “could he just be playing mind games?” White’s answer was hilarious. “If he’s not playing mind games…he’s an idiot. I would have to say he’s an idiot. If he really had that bad of a camp, and he’s literally telling the guy at the faceoff … it’s gotta be a mind game.”
White also talked about Brock Lesnar’s rumored “possible” return; recently retired Georges St-Pierre’s newfound love for doing interviews; and how excited he is for the Cowboy Cerrone vs. Adriano Martins fight and the Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Stipe Miocic fight. For the entire interview please go here.
